Catherine McAuley set out to serve the most vulnerable when she founded the Sisters of Mercy in 1826. In Dublin, Ireland, she opened her doors to homeless women and children. Today, in Broward County, more than 4,000 individuals are homeless each night, and at least one-third of this number is represented by women with children. While Holy Cross does not directly provide housing to homeless persons, our commitment to the homeless is long-standing.

Our Community Outreach Associates take part in conducting an ongoing assessment of needs in Broward County, and together with our physicians, plan and provide healthcare and immunizations for children and additional food resources for families.
